Ballytarsna-Hackett Castle is a stunning example of a 15th Century Fortified Tower House of significant historic note, situate in the County of Tipperary, Ireland, approximately 10 minutes drive from the Historic towns of Cashel and Thurles.

Located in a most charming rural setting and enjoying wonderful views of bucolic tranquility, the Castle is accessed from the public road via a gated driveway and is situate on approx. 18 acres of land with extensive road frontage, fenced, with the visible boundaries well defined.

In the immediate vicinity of the Castle there are two outbuildings, one used for storage, the other partially connected to the Castle and also used for storage and equipment for the solar power panel.

The Castle has undergone extensive restoration between the years 1999 and 2009, along with more recent works being undertaken such as external rendering with sand and lime compound, and landscaping works to grounds. This has well insulated the Castle and has significantly improved heating and damp control.

At the entrance to the property a large stone and ironwork gate has been constructed as well as a planted hedge along the frontage on the public road.

HISTORY:

The Castle at Ballytarsna was constructed by Sir William Hackett as a home for his family during the late 15th century.
The Castle remained occupied until the year 1655 when the Hackett family were ousted by the British Parliamentarian forces during the 'Wars of the Three Kingdoms'.

It was during this brutal conflict that the castle fell into disrepair and subsequently had remained in a derelict condition until modern times.

The extensive restoration process to the Castle was undertaken by the previous owner over a eleven-year period which commenced during the late 1990's.

It has taken huge skill, knowledge and dedication by the vendors and their craftspeople to recreate this magnificent piece of historic architecture in it's serene rural setting.
