The lands are contained within folios WD34375F and amount to c. 12.39ha - c. 30.61 acres. The lands are in one irregular shaped block, accessed from the L3055.
The existing quarry commenced operation in the 1940’s. The quarry was operated by Carrigeen Newtown Stone Quarries Ltd and subsequently DJW Quarries. It supplied crushed rock aggregates and building stone to the local market and construction projects in Waterford and the surrounding areas. It obtained Section 261A planning consent in 2006.

The quarry contains a tested volume of c. 1.5 million tonnes with planning permission and an additional volume of up to c. 3.6 million tonnes STPP, highlighting its substantial potential for continued extraction. The rock type consists of slate and igneous diorite. The existing void of the quarry would take c. 1.3 million tonnes of material to fill it back to grade, STPP.

With favorable geology and full regulatory compliance, Carrigeen Quarry represents a strong opportunity for long-term, sustainable profitability.
The quarry has been fully dewatered, in compliance with its approved discharge licence, to allow a comprehensive programme of independent, expert investigations to be carried out across the substantial majority of the 31-acre site.

APEX Geophysics conducted a detailed resistivity analysis across the vast majority of the site, providing a thorough understanding of the ground conditions and mineral composition at depth.

ASM Geospatial produced a detailed winnable extraction plan covering both the permitted and unpermitted volumes, giving any incoming operator a clear, actionable roadmap to production.

MTS Laboratories carried out a full range of material tests, confirming the quality and commercial viability of the quarry.

A LiDAR drone survey of the entire site has been completed, providing
highly accurate existing ground level data to underpin all technical reporting.

An independent Geologist’s Report is available on providing further expert assessment of the site’s geological profile and future potential.
