Another name of note from the history books on Springfield, is that of Dr Campbell, Ship Surgeon on the renowned expedition fleet of Captain Richards who charted the waters of the eastern Canadian seaboard.

More recently the Dill family occupied Springfield. This family of Ministers, Doctors, Lawyers had a significant theological and academic impact in Ireland during the 1700 to late 1800s
