Keenagh is a village situated on the R397 near the Royal Canal. A small village with two churches, a couple of shops and three pubs, it lies 14 km south of Longford Town. There are also GAA and soccer clubs in the village, as well as a community centre.

Some interesting tourist attractions on your doorstep enhances country living as follows :
Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre offers guided tours, a video presentation and has a preserved portion of Iron Age Road excavated in the 1980s that is older than the Egyptian Pyramids, dating all the way back to 148BC. The nearby village of Kenagh is home to Macs Shack and Foigha Bar and Lounge for food and drink options.
The enchanting Royal Canal Greenway is 130km of level towpath, ideal for walkers, runners and cyclists of all ages and stages. Starting in cosmopolitan Maynooth, it follows the 200-year-old canal through friendly Enfield and lively Mullingar to picturesque Keenagh & charming Cloondara in Longford, with cafés, picnic spots and attractions along the way. Rustic and industrial landscapes combine, with rolling fields, pretty waterside villages, working locks and historic landmarks. Cycle between any of the main towns and return by train to where you started.
The National Famine Way is a self-guided Trail detailing the ill-fated journey of famine emigrants who walked from Strokestown Park to ships in Dublin in 1847, at the height of the Irish Famine. With its captivating layers of history and culture, the Trail will give you a truly immersive experience. It is centred around the walk of twelve-year-old Daniel Tighe - one of the original famine walkers from Strokestown Park - who remarkably survived the horrific journey to Quebec in Canada in 1847. Daniel's journey is reimagined in vignettes written by award-winning author Marita Conlon-McKenna. These are connected to over thirty pairs of 19th-century bronze children's shoes interspersed along the route which create a thought-provoking experience. Follow in the footsteps of 1,490 people, who walked the 165-kilometre route through six counties including Longford, mostly through countryside along the Royal Canal on flat and well-surfaced paths.
These are just some of the local attractions locally, check out www.Longford.ie for more information about the county and what it has to offer.
