One Le Pole Square, Ship Street, Dublin 8

One Le Pole Square is in the heart of the City, directly adjacent to Dublin Castle and within 5 minutes of Grafton St and St Stephens Green. The site is ideally located within walking distance of the centre of the city, adjacent to transport corridors, near tourism and heritage buildings and in an area which is currently undergoing regeneration. The regeneration of this site forms the basis of a significant urban renewal scheme in one of the most archaeologically sensitive areas of Dublin’s medieval city. A new pedestrian street will link Chancery Lane and Ship Street Great; on this route a new civic square will be created over the remains of 7th-century St. Michael Le Pole church. The site is one of the most prominent locations of the new urban quarter of Dublin Castle on which a landmark building of the highest architectural quality is considered necessary. The project creates an historic context, creating a sense of place by adapting to the context and urban pattern.
